Why reviving democracy will fail... in the little known place of Potong Pasir

I read daily with much discouragement about the developments
at Potong pasir .with so much online support for the revival
and return of the estate to the Chiams.

Nevertheless only 2000 over signatures are collected after
the last 2 days when in fact 8000 is needed. With the estate total
voters for Lina Chiam at 7,859. Could it be seem that the online
support and love for Mr Chiam See Tong is stronger
 than on the ground.

After devoting 27 years of his life to Opposition Politics
and a strong hold of the estate , could the clock have finally
tick to its end. have the people of the Estate finally got divided
after promises of a better future , an incoming Upgrading ,
a newer rejuvenation of the Town.

The fact that Mr Chiam has suffered and survive
a medical situation is a double edged sword. On
one hand he is reverred for his Political strength
and determination but on the contrary
he is also likened as someone who should let
go of his domain and retire.Could this be the
reason for the division at the estate
at the moment.

another thought

that if NSP fielding someone as capable
and politically media Savy as Nicole Seah does not warran
t her an opportunity into Parliament , what is the general
perception of Ms Lina Chiam...with no political connections
in the past except thru her husband...Singaporeans are generally
a realistic bunch of people and they may have
questioned her abilities to manage their estate. So a
candidate from another affiliation seems
a more practical answer.

I am keeping my finger crossed that the outcome
will be peaceful and amicable , watever the result
 and consequence.

I respect Mr Chiam , and I respect Potong pasir
resident for their past years of support and dedication
and loyalty. But it seems that the situation in
potong Pasir has reached a turning point.

It may just be a new beginning
...but at the same time i sense a
worrying feel that 5 years later
Little Potong Pasir may not be
here anymore.

this is just my personal opinion and
everyone is entitled to
their own story.
